I WORKED ON:
LOGO, BRAND GUIDELINES, Promotional materials
TIMELINE:
2016
LOCATION:
rwanda
I worked with Tube Heza, a company that researches and constructs earthen floors in Rwanda, to create a new brand and promotional materials.
Challenge
Tube Heza had been been active in Rwanda for a number of years with the mission of developing low-cost, high-quality earthen floors, in areas where dirt floors are the norm. Earthen floors are easy to clean and significantly reduce childhood asthma, diarrhea, malnutrition, and parasitic infestations.
With their business growing and the need to hire more associates, they wanted a new brand that would resonate with both customers and employees.
My Role
I was given the task of creating a new logo and visual identity that would consider the name “Tube Heza“, which translates to “live beautifully”, and could harmonize with East African aesthetics. Although the floors they offered were now more affordable, they would still be still a huge investment for the common Rwandan. Therefore, it was important that the brand appear polished and reputable to prospective customers.
Additionally, promotional materials and simple literature were needed to inform potential clients of the different products and prices available. Floor products included a DIY option called Kwigira (Self-reliance) and a full-service option called Damarara (Treat Yourself).
Outcome
Tube Heza has gone from a start up to a professionally run organization, with over 2000 families served to date. They are working on an expansion into Uganda and have a new partnership with the Rwandan government to provide floors to Rwandans under the poverty line. Tube Heza is a living brand, taking full advantage of, and building on the assets I created for them – and it’s been wonderful to follow their progress!
