Urban Vision Alliance (UVA) is a nonprofit working to build a coalition of cross-industry experts that designs, builds, and scales comprehensive housing solutions for people experiencing homelessness. UVA asked fuseproject, a new member of the coalition, to design a new brand.
Challenge
UVA has a very clear vision for the future: “No one sleeping on the street“. But how they would accomplish that— and do it differently than others— was unclear. With a growing number of coalition members, from service providers to real estate developers, UVA needed a strong brand and message to unite behind. UVA needed funders to see them as an innovative and important part of the solution to homelessness.
My Role
As our strategists refreshed the brand positioning and messaging, I set out to create a brand that would communicate the confidence and resolve that UVA has in solving homelessness in San Francisco and beyond. After sharing moodboards and closely collaborating with my team – I presented three brand directions with the client. “The Fellow”, which had been the internal favorite, was selected on the spot by the client.
“The Fellow” uses the three initials of Urban Vision Alliance to create a human form – channeling the belief that we all have a role in uplifting our fellow humans.
Outcome
I created a brand guidelines document to help UVA build brand presence, as well as pride among its community. The new brand was unveiled at their assembly – with an overwhelmingly positive response.
